Toshiba’s new line of Ultra High Definition 4K TVs will support the new UHD 4K broadcast service from Asian satellite operator and pay TV provider SKY Perfect JSAT.
Toshiba’s new Z Series of UHD TVs, due to launch this autumn, will use a system on a chip provided by media processing solutions firm ViXS Systems.
The ViXS XCode 6400 can decode and display full UHD 4K content in 10-bit Rec 2020 format at 60 frames-per-second, supporting the SKY Perfect JSAT UHD 4K service.
SKY Perfect JSAT’s 4K broadcast service has been live since June. The firm has a fleet of 16 satellites and also provides multi-channel pay TV services in Japan, where it has 3.5 million subscribers.
