Vision TV taps Synapse TV for Freeview relaunch

VisioniTVConnected TV specialist Vision TV has tapped integrator Synapse TV to relaunch its services on the UK Freeview digital-terrestrial platform.

Vision TV delivers a range of UK and international channels to internet-connected Freeview devices via the Freeview EPG.

Synapse TV utilises technology from Strategy & Technology (S&T) and specialist third parties to provide a cloud-based managed service for content owners and aggregators. It allows OTT delivery of on-demand content and linear services. A number of content monetisation models are supported, including BARB-rated linear advertising, targeted on-demand advert insertion, pay-per-view and subscriptions, according to Synapse TV.

The Synapse platform has been integrated with Vision TV operator Vision247’s XtremeIPTV online video platform. The revamped service will initially delvier 20 free-to-view streaming channels and will launch within a few weeks. Synapse already delivers the VuTV and TVPlayer hybrid servces on the Freeview platform.

“Vision TV further extends the attraction of Freeview, offering viewers seamless access to more channels,” said Petra Oblak, CEO of Vision247.

“For broadcasters this presents the opportunity to reach the huge and rapidly growing number of households that have a compatible and connected Freeview HD TV or box in a way that is simple and, crucially, economically viable.”
