German hospitality group steps back from Sky boycott

Sky DeutschlandGermany’s Hotel and Restaurant Owners’ Association – DEHOGA – has reportedly stepped back from a threat to collectively boycott Sky Deutschland’s services following a price increase.

The association decided at a meeting yesterday that the benefits of continuing to work with Sky outweighed unhappiness with the price increase imposed on the hospitality industry by the pay TV operator.

The group said it would keep a close eye on further moves by Sky to up its prices for the industry.

The DEHOGA decision followed protests by innkeepers and restaurant owners over price increases of up 30-40%.

Sky has said its pricing policy for the industry depended on whether the relevant establishment is in a city hosting a top team and on the average purchasing power of people in the area.
