CSA to hire technology director as it addresses spectrum use changes

CSA logoFrench media regulator the CSA has advertised the new post of technology director following its decision to combine its technology and audiovisual operators units as part of a wider reorganisation of its activities.

The CSA is creating a new operators and audiovisual services unit charged with regulating all actors in the audiovisual media sector and frequency planning. It will comprise four entities covering TV, radio, digital services and protection of reception and control of spectrum.

Regarding TV, a principal focus will be the evolutoiin of the digital-terrestrial platform to cope with the reallocation of the 700MHz spectrum band for mobile broadband applications. With regard to digital services, the unit will be charged with putting in place rules to deal with on-demand services and the convergence of broadcast and broadband platforms.
