Europe-based channel group, Trace, has extended it partnership with Angola and Mozambique pay-TV operator, TVCabo, launching Trace Sport Stars on the platform for the first time.

TVCabo will also now carry the French Feed of Trace Group music channel Trace Urban for the first time, having renewed its deal to carry the Trace Urban channel.

Trace Urban is an international hip-hop and R&B-focused music channel, while Trace Sport Stars is a global entertainment channel dedicated to sport celebrities.

Both will be available to “the majority of” TVCabo subscribers via its own packages, thanks to the operator’s increasing number of basic package subscriptions, according to Trace.

“Africa remains a number one priority for Trace. As the continent grows we want to grow with it hence the importance of further distribution and new business launches,” said Laurent Dumeau, CEO of Trace Sport Stars and senior vice president of distribution.

The news come after Trace last month named Victor Bannerman-Chedid as COO for its African operations. He joined from Airtel where he was most recently acting marketing director, Airtel Zambia.

In July, Trace also launched a new Portuguese-language music network in Angola and Mozambique. Called Trace Toca, this went live on MultiChoice’s digital satellite TV service DStv.
