Satellite operator Eutelsat Communications has upped its director of engineering, Yohann Leroy, to chief technology officer.
Leroy takes over from Raphaël Mussalian, who will stay on as special advisor on technology strategy, reporting to Eutelsat CEO and chairman Michel de Rosen.
As CTO, Leroy will be lead Eutelsat’s in-orbit expansion programme, including satellite procurement, launches and in-orbit and network operations from its teleports around the globe
He will also be tasked with driving Eutelsat’s long-term satellite technology roadmap and with making sure that Eutelsat continues to exploit and invest in satellite and terrestrial technologies.
Leroy first joined the firm in 2010 as director of strategy, before taking the director of engineering role in 2013. Prior to Eutelsat he was a technical advisor in the office of the French Prime Minister, in charge of the digital economy and industrial policy.
