The World Cup is set to deliver a £170 million (€210 million) boost to TV sales in the UK, according to research by market research group Mintel.
The increase in TV sales attributable to the football tournament makes it the retail sector likely to benefit most from the event, followed by the alcoholic drinks trade, which is expected to see a £75 million increase in sales. Overall, UK retailers are expected to see a £375 uplift in sales thanks to the World Cup, according to Mintel.
