World Cup to be watched online by 13 million Brits

Some 13 million Britons are set to watch the World Cup online this year, according to a new study by Peer1 Hosting. 

The firm, a wholly-owned subsidiary of web infrastructure firm Cogeco Cable, predicted that 93% of the 13 million will place bets, shop or chat online about the World Cup.

“The increase in people watching, communicating, sharing and consuming online during this year’s World Cup means businesses need to be prepared more than ever,” said Roland Breadner, head of retail, Peer 1 Hosting, which surveyed 2,000 UK consumers for the study.
