Liberty Global-owned cable operator UPC Austria is adding 10 HD channels to its programming line-up as it upgrades its network and begins to wind down analogue transmissions.
Seven new HD channels on the UPC network will be available to UPC TV Start and UPC TV Plus customers, including SF 2, Phoenix, ZDF Info, Eins Plus, SPORT 1, MDR and SWR.
Three further channels will be on offer as part of the HD Extra package included in UPC’s Super FIT, Top FIT and Mega FIT bundles – Animal Planet HD, Nat Geo HD and Universal Channel HD.
UPC is reducing its analogue offering in mid-May to make space for the new services. RAI Uno , Euronews, TV5 Monde, Arte, TRT International, Sports 1 , CNN and SWR will disappear from the analogue tier in Vienna and Lower Austria, but will remain available in analogue, while SWR/BW, Sports 1, MDR, Arte, Eurosport and 3sat will disappear from analogue in Upper Austria.
