Netflix makes Luxembourg move ahead of France launch

NetflixBuilding4Netflix is reportedly due to run the planned French version of its service, which is expected to launch this Autumn, from headquarters in Luxembourg. 

According to French financial paper Les Echos, Netflix is basing the service out of Luxembourg City –where it already legally centres its other European operations.

The paper said that the move would ease Netflix’s regulation-bound obligations in France, which requires companies operating there to promote French and European content.

Last month France’s rights collecting society, the SACD, called for audiovisual distribution rules to be reformed ahead of Netflix’s expected arrival in September.
