New kids channel for Freeview

UK free-to-air platform Freeview has added a new children’s channel to its line-up for the first time in eight years.

CSC Media Group-owned Pop, a channel aimed at kids aged 4-9, launched on the platform yesterday, taking Freeview EPG slot 75. Pop offers shows such as Littlest Pet Shop, Sally Bollywood and My Little Pony. It also have the UK premiere of FremantleMedia-distributed Grojband.

Furthermore, emerging channel operator CSC will launch games on the popfun.co.uk website and through apps and children’s scores and avatars will be displayed on the TV channel.

“Pop will become the UK’s fourth national kids TV network delivering a quality and fun alternative for kids and families in Freeview homes,” said Pop’s head of children’s channels Dominic Gardiner, the former Disney channels exec.

Pop is already available FTA on the Sky Digital and Freesat platforms.
