The RTL and CBS joint venture channels business has launched its second thematic channel in Asia.
Male-skewed RTL CBS Extreme HD has been handed a slot on Singaporean pay TV platform SingTel mio TV and will launch on March 27.
The network will be the exclusive local home of UKTV original Dynamo: Magician Impossible and Red Bull Media House shows Red Bull Art of Motion, Red Bull Cliptomaniacs and Red Bull Air Races. It also exclusively air Spike TV magic seriesCriss Angel BeLIEve and feature programming from magicians Troy and Cosentino.
It will also run shows such as RTL-owned format Fear Factor and early seasons of CBS procedurals including NCIS: Los Angeles and Hawaii Five-O.
RTL CBS Asia Entertainment Network launched last year as the power broadcasting powerhouses from Europe and America, respectively, made a play on wider distribution of their programming in Asia.
RTL CBS Extreme’s unique channel positioning and compelling mix of action series, extreme sports, action reality programs and masters of illusion is a very strong programming proposition for our target audience,” said RTL CBS Asia Entertainment Network CEO Jonas Engwall.
The joint venture’s first channel, RTL CBS Entertainment HD, began rolling out in September. SingTel already carries the channel. RTL and CBS plan to have the two networks in 29 Asian territories.
