Tablets is continuing to drive the market for smart connected devices in the UK, with shipments growing by 50% in 2013, according to research by International Data Corporation (IDC).
According to IDC, about 12.6 million tablets sold last year. The overall market for smart connected devices grew by 11.1% to 56 million units.
Apple dominates the UK tablet market, with 4.7 million units shipped in 2013 compared with two million for Samsung and 1.6 million for Amazon.
Smartphones continue to dominate the overall market, accounting for 60% of the total. smartphone sales grew by 8.5% over the year.
Samsung led the smartphone market in the UK, followed by Apple and Sony.
The PC market contracted by 5.5% in the fourth quarter, despite growth of 3.4% in the commercial segment.
