Box Television secures new deals in Hungary, Tanzania

UK-based Box Television has expanded the presence of its channels in central and eastern Europe and Africa with new deals in Hungary and Tanzania.

Box Television, whose channels are distributed by 3Vision Distribution, has secured carriage for pop music channel Smash Hits with Hungary’s Magyar Telekom in what it said was the first of a series of European launches planned this year.

The Box Africa has meanwhile launched on Tanzanian DTH platform Azam TV.

The Box Africa is already distributed in Africa on DTH platforms Zuku and Lusophone platform Zap, while sister channels Smash Hits, Kiss, Magic and Kerrang! are also broadcasting across South Africa on Star Times and Star Sat, with a number of additional launches planned for this year to grow the African footprint, according to 3Vision.

“The Box Africa is quickly becoming the Hip Hop music channel of choice for Africans with its unique blend of African and international urban music. We are delighted to add Azam TV to the growing list of platforms carrying The Box Africa across the continent of Africa,” said 3Vision’s  distribution COO, Jonathan Nickell.
