UK operator Virgin Media reached a milestone figure of two million TiVo customers this week, after first launching the service in December 2010.
The firm marked the occasion by surprising the two millionth customer, a family in Manchester, with an impromptu visit by Hollyoaks and Dancing on Ice star Jennifer Metcalfe.
Virgin Media said that TiVo is the “UK’s fastest growing pay TV service” and along with 2 million installs, received 519 million on-demand TV programme requests last year alone.
“Reaching two million TiVo customers is a huge milestone for Virgin Media,” said director of digital entertainment Scott Kewley.
“TiVo brings your favourite TV right to you, so we thought we’d go even further for Chris and Leigh Lynch by surprising them with a visit from their favourite television celebrity. It was great seeing their reactions and we hope they had as much fun as we did planning the surprise.”
