Green light for Canal+ Overseas Mediaserv acquisition

France’s competition regulator has given a green light to Canal+ Overseas’ acquisition of a 51% stake in Mediaserv, the main alternative telecom operator in Guadeloupe, Martinique, French Guiana and Reunion. 

Canal+’s overseas media unit is taking over the stake from existing owner Groupe Loret.

According to the group, the acquisition will enable it to diversify its activities overseas and assist it in launching new services including internet TV.

The deal is expected to close in the next few days.
