Over-the-top video service Wuaki.tv has appointed former Microsoft executive Xavier Llobera as its new partnerships and devices director.
Llobera, who was previously managing director of the Microsoft Productivity Innovation Centre, will be tasked with growing Wuaki’s business through device, mobile operator and retail partnerships.
“Leading Wuaki.tv’s growth on the B2B side of the business, Xavier will continue to expand the streaming service’s availability on a range of devices, secure new business partnerships, and manage existing relationships at both a UK and international level,” Wuaki said in a statement.
Wuaki.tv, which is owned by Japanese e-commerce giant Rakuten, was founded in Spain in 2009 and now also claims more than 125,000 users in the UK after launching there in September.
The firms attributes this growth, in part, to partnerships with brands including Samsung, Microsoft’s Xbox, Panasonic and LG, which have brought the streaming service to multiple devices and consoles.
Llobera has 20 years of experience in the innovation technology industry and has previously worked for firms including Apple and Telefonica.
