Sky Deutschland has secured first-broadcast pay-TV and SVoD rights to a clutch of Oscar-nominated independent films, including American Hustle, 12 Years a Slave and Philomena.
The rights come through deals with independent film distributors Tobis, Prokino and SquareOne Entertainment. These cover linear distribution through Sky’s film channels as well as SvoD rights for broadcast over the Sky Go and Sky Anytime services.
“Tobis, SquareOne and Prokino are among the most important independent film distributors in Germany, and with this film deals we’ve secured first-broadcast rights to several of the year’s most celebrated films. Only Sky presents such a wide range of award-winning films, once again showing that we are the home for all film fans, with a real commitment to quality,” said Gary Davey, Sky Deutschland’s executive vice-president, programming.
