YouTube signs up as founding partner for MIP Digital Fronts

YouTube has come onboard as a founding partner of the first MIP Digital Fronts – an international screenings showcase for original online video.

The MIP Digital Fronts event is due to take place on April 9 at the Palais des Festivals in Cannes, during the Reed Midem-organised annual MIPTV market.

The event is designed to showcase online programmes and web series to an audience of international buyers, producers and distributors, agencies, brands and advertisers.

“The new MIP Digital Fronts initiative will offer an excellent global platform for YouTube creators, digital studios and traditional television and film studios to promote their web video talent and programming,” said Ben McOwen Wilson, director YouTube EMEA.

Laurine Garaude, director of Reed Midem’s Television Division, added: “In just over eight years, YouTube has revolutionised the entertainment industry, in a blink of an eye becoming the world’s online destination for producers and content creators to build new channels and establish their brands with audiences on a global basis.  YouTube’s announcement to join the new MIP Digital Fronts as a founding partner, confirms the international demand for a European-based screenings showcase to accelerate the marketplace for original online video.”
