Canal+ to pay less for content creation

Canal+ Group will be required to pay less to the French Centre National du Cinéma et de L’Image Animée (CNC) to support content creation as a result of an amendment passed by the French parliament in relation to next year’s budgetary measures. 

The amendment, which was passed in the face of opposition from the French government, will see Canal+ pay some €10 less to support content creation.

A similar amendment that would have seen the contribution made by commercial broadcasters TF1 and M6 was rejected by parliament.
