Turner turns to Arqiva for satellite distribution and playout

Turner Broadcasting has turned to media services provider Arqiva to provide satellite distribution and playout for its services across Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific.

The deal makes Arqiva Turner Broadcasting’s largest partner for play-out responsibility for its EMEA and APAC markets.
Arqiva will be responsible for 24 channels in EMEA and a 17-channel service in Asia. These channels include Turner’s kids and entertainment brands Cartoon Network, Boomerang, TCM and Boing.

Arqiva said it would build on the deal to invest significantly in new technology to provide an end-to-end servicea including uplink to third party broadcasters across EMEA.

Barrie Woolston, managing director for satellite at Arqiva said: “This marks a significant step in Arqiva’s growth strategy for the Satellite business, particularly our International expansion. We have a strong heritage in providing quality and robust services for our clients in the UK and EMEA already; with the APAC offices in both Hong Kong and Singapore we are now in a position to support current and new clients in this region also.”
