Wuaki.tv partners with LG on smart TV streaming

Over-the-top video service Wuaki.tv has partnered with LG to launch an app on LG’s 2012 and 2013 range of smart TVs in the UK.

The movie and TV series streaming app will includes rental, purchase and subscription titles and include “thousands of hours” of content, according to Wuaki.tv.

The deal follows similar agreements with Samsung and Panasonic, with Wuaki.tv now available on “most of the smart TVs on sale in the UK today,” it claimed.

“Smart TVs have become increasingly commonplace in the average living room, in both Spain and the UK, and this is reflected in how consumers are using the Wuaki.tv service, hence we are very happy to agree this partnership with a top TV manufacturer such as LG,” said Wuaki.tv founder and CEO Jacinto Roca.

Wuaki.tv is owned by Japanese e-commerce giant Rakuten. The service is currently live in the UK and Spain, with more European launches slated for France, Germany and Italy next year.
