Set-top box maker Dune HD has partnered with push video-on-demand specialist Quadrille to offer satellite-based VOD to operators in Africa.
The firms said that they had created a receiver able to download content, allowing developing region operators to offer “unprecedented content choice even where broadband access is limited.”
Under the deal, Quadrille’s QuadriFast Push VOD technology will be incorporated into the new Dune HD TV-252 hybrid set-top box.
“The solution gives operators in the region a competitive edge through low-cost extra capacity while expanding entertainment options to both consumer households and hospitality providers,” the firms said.
