Dailymotion opens Japan office
France-based video site Dailymotion has opened a new Japanese office to tap in on local advertising growth.
Dailymotion Japan KK launched today in Tokyo with a new team, and will look to develop partnerships with local content providers and advertisers.
Cédric Tournay , CEO of Dailymotion, said: “Japan is a priority market for us with an already strong audience, especially via smartphones. It is the logical next step for Dailymotion to consolidate its presence with a dedicated subsidiary in Japan that will be able to develop new networks and address other local issues.”
Dailymotion currently takes around 11 million unique viewers a month in Japan, equating to the company’s third largest market behind France and the US. Overall, the site gets 120 million unique viewers and 2.5 billion viewers per month.
