DigiTAG to hold DVB-T2 workshop in Istanbul, Fell named as new president

DigiTAG, the EBU-backed digital-terrestrial action group, is to hold a workshop on DVB-T2 in Istanbul in mid-November ahead of the country’s DTT rollout.

The DigiTAG workshop will address a range of issues that DVB-T2 implementers need to consider, picking up on the experiences of those who have already launched DVB-T and/or DVB-T2 services, according to the EBU. The agenda will cover network and frequency planning, energy use and sustainability, product testing and compliance, and much more. A number of EBU Members will be among the speakers.

Turkey is set to launch DTT next month, beginning in the capital Ankara, with region-by-region launches with six-month analogue simulcast periods to follow. Analogue switch-off is scheduled for March 3 2015.

Separately, Simon Fell has been named as the new president of DigiTAG. Fell will take on the role in addition to his current responsibilities as EBU director of technology and innovation.
