Russian VoD site Tvigle launches PlayStation app

Russian video-on-demand site Tvigle has launched an app for Sony PlayStation consoles.

The firm said it was the first Russian online video provider to launch on the device, and would open up the service to more than a million PS3 users in Russia. The app will also be available on the soon-to-launch PS4 console.

Tvigle has a library of more than 20,000 licensed films and TV programmes, including shows like The Walking Dead, Luther and Misfits.

The service also already has apps for the major TV brands available in Russia. Tvigle claims to have generated more than a million views on Sony smart TVs last month alone.

“We see huge potential in connected devices, and our ability to bring Russia’s largest online library of films and TV series to PlayStation users forms a key part of our strategy to grow this market,” said Egor Yakovlev, Tvigle’s founder and CEO.
