Cartoon Network to launch in Portuguese-speaking Africa

Turner has struck a deal with South African pay TV operator MultiChoice that will kids channel Cartoon Network launch in Portuguese-speaking Africa.

The new channel will be available on the DStv platform in Angola and Mozambique from tomorrow. Turner said the move was part of its ongoing strategy to adapt its content to different markets.

“The new channel will be home to some of Cartoon Network’s flagship series, such as Adventure Time, Ben 10 Omniverse and The Amazing World of Gumball,” said Domingo Corral, Turner’s SVP in Spain and Portuguese regions. “We’re confident that the adaptation to Portuguese makes our content accessible for a wider audience keen to engage with our breakout shows. In so doing, we will be able to build upon and increase our ratings success.”
