DNA names acting CEO as Tiuraniemi departs

Finnish telco and cable operator DNA has named Jukka Leinonen as its new interim CEO, replacing Riitta Tiuraniemi, who is to leave the company.

According to DNA, Tiuraniemi and the DNA board have agreed that she will leave the company. The board has initiated the search for a replacement – with a target date of the end of this year – and has appointed corporate business vice-president Leinonen as acting CEO.

“I would like to thank Riitta for her 14 years at DNA: during this time, she held various management positions and, from 2009 onwards, led the whole Group, managing its emergence as a growing and profitable company in a highly competitive industry. As a challenger in the industry, DNA has demonstrated that competition is good for all stakeholders,” said Jarmo Leino, chairman of the board of DNA. ’The telecommunications industry is undergoing a major disruption. The new CEO will need to have a very dynamic approach and a vision of where DNA’s new opportunities lie. I firmly believe that the innovativeness and solid knowhow of our staff will move our company forward in the right direction also under the helm of the future CEO.”
