Tricolor TV launches premium HD offering

Russian DTH service Tricolor TV has launched a new high-end package of HD channels.

Tricolor TV, which has until recently been seen as an exclusively low-cost service, has priced the new offering, SuperKino HD, at RUB1,500 (€34) for three months or RUB5,400 for a full year. The operator has reportedly set a target of 100,000 subscribers for the offering.

SuperKino HD will include five Tricolor HD channels – KinoPremium HD, Serial HD, Ostrosyuzhetnoye kino HD, Semeynoye HD and Nashe HD – showing Russian and international movies and TV series in HD. Tricolor TV currently has a deal in place with Disney to show new movies that have not yet appeared on Russian TV and is reportedly in talks with other studios.

Tricolor TV also intends to distribute SuperKino HD to other operators.
