Discovery leads Volia channel popularity poll

Factual channels and movie services are the most popular TV channels amongst Ukrainian cable operator Volia’s subscriber base, according to a survey carried out by the operator.

Factual channels are most popular amongst Volia subscribers, chosen by 76% or respondents, followed by movie services with 71% and news channels with 59%. Sport and entertainment services scored 44% and 33% respectively.

Discovery was the single most popular channel with a 41.3% vote, with Discovery World and Discovery Science scoring 34.3% and 27.8% respectively.

Volia Kino HD was the most popular movie services with a 28.7% vote, followed by TV1000 with 27%, Nashe Kino with 17.2% and TV1000 Russkoye Kino with 15.3%.

Amongst entertainment channels, TLC scored highest with 25.1%, followed by local offerings K1 with 24% and K2 with 16.9%. Sport 1 was the leading sport channel with a 27.1% share, followed by Sport 2 with 24.6% and Futbol+ with 19.7%.

Local offering Kanal 5 led amongst news and information channels with 18.6%, followed by Euronews with 12.3% and CNN with 10.5%.
