BT’s new sports package can now be received by a million customers, the UK telco and pay TV provider announced.
BT is offering the channel free to BT broadband customers, or separately for £12 per month, and is available via YouView, Vision+ or Sky set-top boxes. Online and mobile viewing also available through the BT Sport app.
BT said that the million total includes satellite TV customers, BT TV customers, and both BT broadband customers who have re-contracted their broadband for at least twelve months or new broadband subscribers who have been attracted by BT Sport.
“We always said that BT Sport would help us retain and attract broadband customers and that is proving to be the case. We are rewarding our customers for their loyalty and the strategy is working,” said BT Consumer managing director, John Petter.
“These are early days but we plan to make the most of this initial surge in demand as fans get excited about the football season ahead. Huge numbers of customers are signing up every day,” he added.
