Mixed picture for TeliaSonera

Nordic telco TeliaSonera experienced a mixed picture in TV and broadband growth in the year to June.

Overall, TeliaSonera had 1.37 million TV subscribers at the end of June, up 9.8% year-on-year. However the company’s overall broadband base declined by 4% to 2.394 million.

TeliaSonera’s TV base in Sweden has now passed the 600,000 customer mark, making the operator the number two TV player in the Swedish market.

The telco saw slower than expected growth in its TV base in Estonia. TeliaSonera-owned Estonian telco Elion grew its TV base to 130,000 at the end of June, up 13,000 on the same period last year. The company’s broadband base grew by 12,000 year on year to 217,000.

Elion invested €13 million in rolling out its fibre network in the first half, comparable with the amount invested in the same period last year. Almost 30% of Elion’s residential and business customers are now reached by the fibre network.

Lithuanian telco Teo’s TV base grew to 170,200 in the course of the year to June, with its broadband base growing to 394,100. The TeliaSonera-owned operator’s telephony customer base at the end of June numbered 584,800.

TV now accounts for 8.5% of Teo’s revenues, compared with 24.6% for broadband.
