Envivio is supplying its Envivio Muse transcoders for Ukrainian cable operator Volia’s Smart HD over-the-top TV service to enable mobile device users to access the service as well as to make Smart HD available outside Volia’s current footprint.
Volia’s transcoding platform runs on the 4caster G4 platform from Envivio. Envivio was named as one of Volia’s technology partners for the service when it launched in March, along with middleware provider Minerva, set-top provider Entone, content security provider Verimatrix and OTT technology specialist Anevia.
“We chose the Envivio Muse encoders to power the Volia Smart HD service because Envivio offered outstanding video quality and a flexible architecture based on software,” said Alexander Hnyduik, chief technology officer of Volia. “This flexibility is important as we integrate our pay TV and OTT platforms and serve a larger number of viewers around the country who want to enjoy a more personalized, anytime, anywhere TV experience.”
