SES signs broadband deal with EuropaSat

Satellite operator SES has signed a deal with UK-based internet service provider EuropaSat to distribute its SES satellite broadband service in the UK and Europe.

SES Broadband Services is providing the space, network and hub operations, while EuropaSat offers services like online ordering, pre- and post-sales support, logistics and maintenance.

SES said the broadband service uses Ka-band capacity on the ASTRA 2F satellite located at the orbital position 28.2 degrees east, and that capacity will be further extended after the launch of ASTRA 2E, which also be located at the same orbital neighbourhood.

“We are convinced that this partnership, together with the expansion of our Ka-band offer and with download speeds of up to 20 Mbit/s, will prove to be another milestone in our mission to bridge the digital divide across Europe and beyond,” said Patrick Biewer, managing director of SES Broadband Services.

EuropaSat managing director Andrew Walwyn added: “Our mission as a company is to deliver the widest range of quality broadband and offer alternatives via satellite so that our customers always have the best solution to be connected, wherever they are in Europe.”
