EBU names new technology and innovation chief

The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) has named Simon Fell as its new director of technology and innovation. 

Fell is currently chairman of the technical cpouncile at the UK Digital Television Group, and has held senior roles in technology at ITV and Carlton Television.

Fell will take responsibility for steering EBU technology and innovation from August 15. He replaces Lieven Vermaele, who announced his departure in January after six years in the post.

“Public service media companies throughout Europe face a changing technological landscape now more than ever. I am looking forward to leading the EBU’s great technology team as we navigate the future and guide the membership towards the right technology choices for digital media production and delivery,” said Fell.
