The BBC’s recently launched free weather app has reached 1 million downloads in just two weeks.
The BBC released the Android and iOS app earlier this month, and now claims that more than 25% of people are now accessing BBC weather services via mobile, up from 20% prior to the apps’ launch.
“In the first weekend following the app’s launch (June 15 and 16) we saw an approximate 47% increase in mobile access compared to the previous weekends number of mobile visits,” said James Metcalfe, senior product manager for the BBC Weather website.
