Channel 4’s on-demand service 4oD has launched on UK free-to-air satellite platform Freesat.
The service joins BBC iPlayer, ITV Player and YouTube apps on Freesat’s <free time> advanced set-top box and will offer both new and catalogue Channel 4 content.
Freesat MD Emma Scott said the deployment further strengthened its on-demand offering and establishes Freesat as “the first UK TV platform to host the HTML5 version of 4oD.
Freesat launched <free time> last Autumn, bringing new features to the service, including a backwards EPG and a new Showcase TV recommendations section. <free time> was built on open standards for hybrid TV, including elements of HbbTV and HTML5 browser technology.
