Irish TV app developer Axonista has partnered with content management technology firm Civolution to use the latter’s synchronisation technology in its Ediflo platform.
The deal is designed to boost viewer engagement on the second screen apps built by Axonista, with its Ediflo platform already used to power branded apps by broadcasters like ESPN, MTV and Setanta Sports across iOS, Android and Windows mobile devices, as well as Roku and Xbox platforms and the web.
The collaboration with Civolution’s SyncNow ACR audio watermarking technology will enable Axonista’s companion apps to be in sync with content being viewed on the TV.
“Synchronisation is increasingly important for second screen apps. Whether it’s sporting action, trivia or specific information about the program or actors, real-time sync is a powerful drive into the action,” said Alex Terpstra, CEO, Civolution.
