BBC Entertainment to launch on new Romanian platform

BBC Entertainment is among three BBC Worldwide channels launching on a new Romanian DTH TV service.

BBC Entertainment, BBC Knowledge and BBC World News will be carried on the Universe HD tier of the newly launched Orange Romania platform.

Entertainment has been in Romania since 2009 when it launched a pan-European feed.

Knowledge, which runs British factual content, already launched in the CEE region this year in Romania, along with Cyprus, Hungary and Slovenia.

“Following the successful launch of BBC Knowledge in Romania earlier this year, it’s very pleasing to see that there’s demand for BBC channels on this exciting new platform. Our channels are becoming more established throughout CEE. Expect to see more announcements in the coming months,” said BBWW’s executive VP, CEE and MENA, Ian McDonough.

The new Orange Romania TV service is broadcast via the SES Astra satellite and complements an existing mobile service.
