TV companion app Zeebox has partnered with video discovery firm Digitalsmiths on a new ‘recommended for you’ feature.
Launched this week, the new tool delivers personalised recommendations, based on individual viewing behaviour in the Zeebox app. Zeebox’s ‘similar shows’ feature also allows users to discover content related to different programmes.
“Our users tell us that program discovery is a key use for second screen applications. People love the Zeebox program guide, but scrolling through a list of 150 channels is not the future,” said Zeebox co-founder and chief technology officer Anthony Rose.
“What you want is a small set of program recommendations, just for you, that you can watch right now. Our new personalised recommendation system offers that, based on your viewing history, likes and more. We look to evolve Zeebox further over the coming months to be your perfect personalised program discovery application.”
Digitalsmiths provides a video discovery platform that offers personalised search, recommendations, social discovery, mood discovery and sports. It partners with programme distributors, consumer electronics manufacturers and second screen apps, with customers including Time Warner Cable, Cisco, Warner Bros, Paramount, Technicolor and Univision.
