Russian service provider Rostelecom has launched a new Zabava TV app for Android devices, giving access to a range of popular TV channels and video-on-demand services.
Zabava TV on Android includes 116 Russian and international TV channels, including Eurosport, Zee TV, National Geographic, Discovery Science and TLC.
Rostelecom is also offering movies on demand from studios including Warner Bros and Sony Pictures, as well as local content providers.
Zabava TV, which is already available on iPads, is being delivered via adaptive bit-rate streaming over 3G and WiFi to tablets with version 4.1.1 of the Android OS and above.
Zabava TV online costs RUB379 (€8.95) a month. Rostelecom plans to introduce HD and adult packages soon for an additional RUB229.
