Liberty Global has named Michael Lee as the new managing director of satellite TV arm UPC DTH.
Lee replaces Magnus Ternsjö, who was appointed as the new CEO of UPC Ireland earlier this month after the previous holder of that post Dana Strong was named as chief operating officer of Liberty’s latest acquisition Virgin Media, replacing Andrew Barron.
Lee was previously chief financial officer of UPC DTH, which delivers satellite TV services FreeSAT in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, UPC Direct in Hungary and FocusSat in Romania.
“Both Magnus and Michael are ideally positioned to take their new roles at UPC Ireland and UPC DTH as they have many years of experience and a proven track record at Liberty Global as well as in the media and communications industry,” said Diederik Karsten, executive vice-president of Liberty Global’s European broadband operations. “Under Magnus’ leadership UPC DTH has year on year achieved double digit growth on most key metrics. I see Michael as an excellent successor to continue on this path. Both will continue to deliver profitable growth, excellent products and customer service excellence for the operations that they will lead.”
