SES’s new Astra 2E satellite has left manufacturer Astrium’s facilities in Toulouse after completing its final integration and test process and is now en route to Baikonur, Kazakhstan in preparation for its launch on a Proton rocket.
Based on Astrium’s Eurostar E3000 platform, Astra 2E will carry Ku-and Ka-band payloads, enabling the delivery of broadcast and broadband services in Europe, the Middle East and Africa at the 28.2° East orbital slot.
