Russian HD use on the rise

The number of Russian subscribers to HD services grew tenfold over the last year, contributing to a 10% increase in ARPU for pay TV operators, according to research by Telecomdaily.

According to the study, the number of HD subscribers grew from 400,000 to four million by the end of May, when subscribers to digital TV services in the country had access to an average of six HD channels.

ER-Telecom’s Dom.ru was the leader in terms of HD channels, with 41 services, followed by VimpelCom with 36 and Tricolor TV with 25.
