Google extends Missouri fibre trial

Grandview Missouri will be the next community to join Google’s high-speed internet and TV service trial in and around Kansas City, the search giant announced.

Google launched its Google Fiber initiative last year, providing a 1Gbps internet connection and a fibre-powered TV service with nearly 200 HD TV channels for US$120 per month. Users can also opt for just the 1 Gigabit internet connection for US$70 per month.

“It will still be awhile before we can build Fiber in Grandview – we need to plan and engineer our network there first,” the firm said in a blog post. Last month Google also announced that it would also take its fibre offering to Austin, Texas, next year.
