Samsung has acquired Atlanta-based social TV app maker MOVL, according to US reports.

In a statement published by both TechCrunch and Giga Om, MOVL confirmed it is now part of Samsung Electronics and will combine its “multiscreen capabilities with Samsung’s scale and innovation in its device ecosystem.”

MOVL creates apps for connected TVs and mobile devices, and is responsible for apps including: SmartFitTV, a personal trainer app for Google TV devices and Samsung smart TVs; and WeTeli, a social video Jukebox.

Its MOVL Connect Platform also lets users build across many platforms, including Google, Samsung, iOS, Android, Facebook and more.
