Yorkshire, UK-based middleware provider Pixsam Digital Software has named former BBC, Siemens and Humax technologist Bob Hannent as its chief technology officer.
Hannent will initially be charged with focusing on working with operators and device manufacturers to develop low-cost, high-value DVB-IP hybrid solutions, according to Pixsan.
The company is putting significant effort into its existing Elgist, MHEG and Qt-based software products as well as developing its new hybrid middleware.
The company provides MHEG-5 and HTML5-based middleware that powers a number of Freeview and Freesat receivers, and plans to expand into overseas markets with DVB-T2 and DVB-S2-based networks this year.
Hannent, who is currently senior technology manager for Humax, will take up his post on May 11.
