The BBC has appointed former The Times newspaper editor James Harding as director of BBC News and Current Affairs.
Harding, who takes up his post in August, replaces Helen Boaden, who has taken the role of director, BBC Radio.
Harding was editor of the times from 2007 to 2012, prior to which he held various international posts at the Financial Times.
