Swiss-based HDTV music channel and a video-on-demand platform iConcerts is opening a Japanese subsidiary and has signed a distribution deal with domestic cable TV operator J:Com.
iConcerts Japan will be led by newly appointed CEO, Daihei Shiohama, a Japanese music industry veteran, and the channel has also started investing in original content featuring established and up-and-coming Asian stars.
“We have been investing considerably in the Asian territories as this is an incredible growth market, with demand for music programming and our services going from strength to strength,” said iConcerts co-founder and editor-in-chief, Natalia Tsarkova. iConcerts already has an Asian headquarters in Singapore and regional offices in Seoul and Beijing and has a number of distribution deals in the region.
