Set-top box (STB) maker Dune HD and HTML5 STB software provider Digisoft.tv have partnered to create a new consumer platform aimed at carriers and retailers.
The offering is centred around the delivery of hybrid and IP-based television services using Dune’s consumer products and Digisoft’s Iris middleware operating system.
The combined Dune HD and Digisoft.tv product will support standard broadcast formats and customisation using HTML5 for the interface, including EPG, VOD and app store.
“The Dune HD family of hybrid media players, combined with a pay-as-you-go approach to both television and the app store, will help service operators address the very real threat of cord cutting,” said Fearghal Kelly, CEO of Digisoft.tv.
Iris on Dune HD set-top boxes and dongles are being demoed this week at NAB.
